Leeds 2023 was a large-scale, year-long festival celebrating global and local talent, with a mission to make culture accessible to all. Leeds 2023 set goals to engage 75% of the local community as both audiences and participants in their arts and cultural program. To enhance accessibility and inclusivity, they aimed to introduce a digital immersive element to the festival experience. 

Methods

We conducted primary research with a diverse range of audiences to explore their interest, accessibility needs, and perceptions of various immersive technologies. This research provided valuable insights into audience preferences and potential barriers to engagement. 

Outcomes

Our findings informed Leeds 2023's technology roadmap and procurement strategy. By leveraging audience insights, the festival was able to identify and implement the most accessible and appealing immersive technologies.
